I love kids! My passion has always been to meet the needs of children. In my early career, I worked at the University of Washington as a nutritionist serving young children with special needs. Later, I had the joy of being an at-home mom, raising three children, and volunteering in their classrooms. Throughout this time, I always had their education as a top priority, and sought various settings to meet their needs, including public school, private school, and several years of home-schooling. Through this, I discovered my own passion for teaching, and for meeting each child’s individual needs. I returned to school and got my elementary teaching certification and became a public school teacher. I then taught four years of PreK, three years of K, and seven years of 2nd grade.
Those years total 14 plus years of experience teaching in both the Lake Washington and Issaquah School Districts. I love seeing the lightbulb of understanding come on when a child experiences the understanding of a new concept! I have recently retired from full-time teaching but continue to keep a finger in the classroom through substitute teaching and serving as a mentor for the Issaquah School District. When I’m not with kids, I enjoy reading, walking my overly friendly dog, and spending time with my husband of 36 years. We especially enjoy time spent with our adult children, and frequently travel east of the mountains to spend time with our two incredible grandchildren!

I have been a teacher in the Issaquah School District for ten years. I began my career teaching kindergarten and first grade, worked with English Language Learners (ELL) for two years, and have spent the last 5 years teaching 4th graders.
I have a passion for literacy and enjoy helping kids become confident readers and writers! It is my belief that all children are capable of learning and that education can not be treated as one-size-fits-all. In my classroom and tutoring sessions, I strive to get to know my students as individuals so that I can best meet their needs in ways that are engaging and exciting for them. I love working with kids to set goals and celebrating with them when they meet those goals!
When I am not teaching, my own two kids keep me busy. We love exploring trails and parks, playing with our dogs, baking, and reading.

I believe that anyone can learn!
I believe in setting high expectations for my students. I have been with the Issaquah School District for 7 years now. Before that, I taught in the Middle East and India.
While I initially trained and got a master’s degree in the field of Biochemistry, Education was my true calling. In America, I returned to school and got my certificate in Education. I remained passionate about STEM and STEM applications. I enjoy teaching Biology, Chemistry and Math. When students feel empowered by their learning, it makes it all worthwhile for me. I have tutored students in Issaquah School District for 5 years.
I also enjoy going outdoors and spending time with my husband and two teenage children. I love to travel to places that tell rich stories from history. As a family, we love to hike and cook together.

I have been teaching 5th grade in the Issaquah School District for 7 years. I have known from a young age that I’ve wanted to teach. I love walking with students in their educational journey and watching their confidence grow. I believe that every child can learn and that my role is to help students overcome struggles or make new connections in their learning. Of all the subject areas I teach at the elementary level, I am most passionate about math. I have a Masters in Math Education. I love working with students to help them gain a conceptual and procedural understanding of math.
Outside of teaching, I am an avid food lover and hiking enthusiast. You can also find me on the couch with a good book or catching up on my favorite shows.

I’m from the Midwest and taught in Wisconsin for 20 years before moving to Washington. This is my 10th year in the Issaquah School District. Throughout my career, I have taught at all grade levels in elementary and middle school. I have also taught students in special programs such as Title I, Early Childhood, and a K-12 online school called Columbia Virtual Academy. Every teacher has a “sweet spot,” however, and mine is 3rd grade. That’s why I’ve been teaching at that level for more than half of my 30 years in education!
There’s a lot I like about being a teacher, but my favorite thing is watching students gain in confidence as they develop new skills. I find it very gratifying when the use of a different strategy, example, tool, or way of wording something suddenly moves a student from confusion to understanding. I like to learn about my students’ interests, laugh with them, and celebrate achievements together. I believe building a positive relationship that is safe and caring is an important part of learning.
Spending time with friends and family is important to me. I have a wide variety of interests that include skiing, biking, and traveling. I also like to play the guitar, cook, putter around the house, and play with my two Siberian cats.
